Fairfax,
VA, Dec. 9, 2004 - United States Products
Co., manufacturers of the original USP Bore
Paste, Gun Cleaning Oil and Gun Cleaner/Degreaser,
announced the formation of a new relationship
with The NRA Foundation by which a portion
of their products' sales will support the
Firearms & Marksmanship Training Endowment
for funding the NRA Basic Marksmanship Training
Programs and Volunteer NRA Instructors nationwide.
"I'm
very proud and pleased to announce that
the NRA Foundation has accepted our offer
to donate five percent of our USP gun cleaning
and maintenance product sales to their Endowment
which will be applied directly to training
programs for hunters, shooters and instructors,"
reported Lee Brown, President of United
States Products Co. based in Pittsburgh,
PA. "It's our way of giving something
back to an organization that has given so
much to this industry and its millions of
enthusiasts."
Initiated
at the recent NRA Convention held in Pittsburgh,
the Endowment was finalized and enthusiastically
accepted by The NRA Foundation today at
their headquarters in Fairfax, VA.
"I
am most appreciative for the support United
States Products Co. is providing to our
Firearms & Marksmanship Training Endowment,"
commented Bill Poole, Director of NRA's
Education and Training Division. "That
Endowment provides funding for more than
51,000 instructors who train over one million
shooters every year."
United
States Product's well-known USP brand of
firearm cleaning products designated for
Endowment support will be distributed in
special packages bearing the familiar "NRA
Foundation - Teach Freedom" insignia.
"We
couldn't be more pleased to have such a
highly regarded company supporting our cause,"
continued Steve Andersen, Executive Director
of The NRA Foundation. "By donating
to the Endowment, United States Products
is ensuring that funds will always be available
for the NRA's vital training programs."
Wayne
Sheets, NRA Director of Endowments concluded
the ceremony by pointing out that as a past
sponsor of the NRA's Annual Youth Hunter
Education Challenge, and now with this ongoing
Endowment, "United States Products
is demonstrating their strong commitment
to young hunter education, training and
safety -- which is where America's future
lies!"
Also

USP
Helps Young Shooters Score Big At The 2004
YHEC
Mansfield,
PA -- Before a packed auditorium of enthusiastic
young shooters, coaches and parents from
all over North America, United States Products
- makers of USP Bore Paste and Gun Cleaning
Oil - was recognized as an important new
contributor to the Youth Hunter Education
Challenge (YHEC) held at the Mill Cove Environmental
Area and Mansfield University in July.
"We
have a special guest with us today,"
announced Robert L. Davis, Jr., Manager
of the Hunter Services Department who presided
over the opening ceremony. "Mr. Lee
Brown, President of United States Products,
who has sponsored individual YHEC teams
in the past, now has joined us as an ongoing
sponsor of the NRA Foundation which will
help fund participants in this and other
educational activities for years to come."
"The
value of young hunter education and its
effect on safety cannot be overemphasized,"
added William Poole, Director of NRA's Education
and Training Division. "So we thank
Lee Brown and USP for helping us to expand
the scope of these critical activities."
The
new partnership yielded immediate benefits
in the nearby shooting fields where Mr.
Brown proceeded to conduct dramatic firearm
cleaning lessons for all interested attendees.
Through the use of a tiny fiber optic lens
connected to a video camera and TV monitor,
onlookers were able to actually see severely
fouled bores become squeaky clean right
before their eyes.
"A
clean bore is an accurate bore," explained
Mr. Brown. "So it's very important
to follow this procedure and use the type
of paste that will effectively remove all
types of fouling -- including carbon, copper,
zinc, lead and plastic - and do it quickly
so you're right back in the game."
Free
samples of USP Bore Paste, which also is
non-toxic and safe to handle, were handed
out throughout the day so young shooters
could try it for themselves during the week's
competition. But at least one observer was
already convinced.
"I
had a barrel with about 1,000 rounds on
it causing my groups to spread out from
1/2-inch to 1-1/4 inches," explained
Chris Bennett, one of the coaches of the
Cumberland Outdoor Club team from Cumberland,
MD. "Thinking the accuracy was gone
forever I was ready to send it off for another
tube when a local gunsmith recommended this
paste. Amazingly, after one cleaning my
accuracy went right back to where it was!"
